Your running man is okay right now. (: Don't be eager to learn, just practice frequently, when you want to, and take your time. Shuffling comes in time. For example, I need tons of work and I've only been doing it for 11 months. Very Happy

Good luck again. Very Happy

Looks good to me! But I've only been shuffling a few weeks. I find the running man so much harder than the T-step, don't know why but something always feels off. Though I've just realised that this vid is more than a month old so any feedback is rather useless... but I think you should post a new vid to show your progress, I would be interested to see it. Very Happy

Yeah when i first started out my running man i realized i was "hopping" but that wht it really is.. Sliding one foot foward while the other goes back in a continous motion

actually if you want to make it look REALLY fluent it's a little hop. some people like to slide, i do both depending on how smooth the surface is. Make sure you bring your back foot a little farther back to emphasize the whole "running" look. I like to do some kicks too when i'm t stepping, that makes it look good also

1 hop/slide or 2? I thought it had to be 2 but it's difficult when trying to speed up. :S

2 hops, small hops though. They're not GIGANTIC hops, they're actually so small it looks like you're sliding. At the moment just do sliding. Start slowely also, i've been doing this for about 3 months now, not long yeah, but within the first few weeks i took it very very slow. No music, just to get the feel for it. Now i'm actually pretty good, i won't be posting videos yet because it still needs more work. But try not to speed it up so quickly, and try not to copy other people's styles. Make your own lol, it's all still shuffling, the only reason why some shufflers get more popularity is because their "style" of shuffling is very unique so try to develop yours that fits yourself. If you want some videos that will guide you BigMilan i think is his name on youtube makes some great shuffling tutorials. Don't be like the "karate kid" where he wants to learn karate right away and doesn't worry about the fundamentals, we all start somewhere, learn the basics and you'll become a monster.

Thanks for the advice, Its easy to be tempted to take short cuts in the learning process and then feel disheartened when it doesn't work out. I'm going to try sticking to the basics until I get them right, even if it takes me longer than most. Razz

I saw some YouTube videos of people shuffling and they were sprinkling baby powder on the floor. I tried it and it worked

I use a really cheap type of shoe that costs me like $4, how long do they last? i still have my first pair i've bought almost 4 months ago, still all good lol. They're the silk padded shoes you see in kung fu movies, they protect your feet and give you a nice slide on almost any surface.

well those are ideal shoes for shuffling, they're cheap, they last long, and they slide really nicely. Try not to use them on concrete, in fact, since you're only like a few months in, try not to shuffle on concrete just yet. If you do plan on it get a pair of converse or something that's a really simple shoe. The lighter the shoe the easier it is to shuffle. I use converse because they have almost no grip
