Hey, Adamc. Welcome to the forum.
I started shuffling in April 2011, which means I've been shuffling for almost 10 months also. My running man is also rough around the edges, in my opinion.

By the way, you said that you like oldschool. Do you mean the 2007/2008 style or the 80s/90s style? I know that some people refer the 2007/2008 style as oldschool.

I like the both styles, but to dance i like the 2007/2008 style without tricks, only the basis, but smooth as possible Smile

Hi Adam, welcome to the forum, the so called malaysian style is the oldschool melbourne shuffle, it's the same thing. The Asians were part of the original melbourne shuffle crews who pioneered shuffling in the early 1990's. Many were students studying in Melbourne at the time and showed friends when they returned to Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia.

The malaysians were the first to shuffle to hardstyle in the early 2000's and kept the arm moves. Melbourne DJ's hated hardstyle prefering commercial hardtrance. Shuffling was banned in melbourne clubs in that period with shufflers taken off the dance floor and thrown out by security, because they took up too much room on the dancefloor. The DJ's just wanted people to stand and drink on the dance floor not dance.

Even in 2007 club owners in Sydney wanted shuffling banned everywhere, which is why we set up Global Shuffle as a protest and stopped going to clubs and danced in the streets.

All those clubs who wanted shuffling banned are closed down now, nobody goes to them, but shuffling just gets stronger.

Yes i have a little problem with using the emoticons, because put Very Happy everywhere.

Yeah that's oldskool shuffling.

Shufflers have individual personal styles and not just Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia, but also the Russians and Netherlands have been shuffling for 20 years and are way more advanced than even todays shufflers in Melbourne.

Shuffling is a concept, it's not a fixed set of steps like cupid shuffle or hiphop, so that's the common mistake with beginners, they see Tstep and the stomp, the hardstyle/runningman move and think that's all there is in shuffling.

There's many shuffle moves, more than 100 and the concept of shuffling means the moves can look different every time you dance, in a different sequence or total different steps.

And you can include dub step, jump, hiphop, ballet or even ballroom, whatever want, that's the whole point of shuffling. You have a personal collection of moves, as many as you want, and you shuffle them around to suit your mood and change them when ever you feel like it.

For instance check out BC from NAM, who is a professionally trained dancer 7 years of ballet, 2 Australian ballroom titles and combines them all live on stage with a live rock band in a bar, he's one of the pioneers of shuffling

then check out the Russian Melbourne Shuffle Championships to see the variety there as well. The typical hardstyle stomp and shuffle Tstep are just thrown in every now and then, you think on feet and change without missing a beat - that's whats shuffling is about when you've got 10+ moves down really well and you string them together in a sequence, then change the sequence.

It's all oldskool hehe. It's not limited, that's the whole point of shuffling, it's based on creative freedom, not a fixed set of moves.

Imagine only being able to do the same 3 moves for the rest of your life. Like only being allowed to listen to 3 dance tracks for ever - how boring.

So in Shuffling you can keep adding, and shufflings been going for 20 years now.

You'll see more here in the official Global Shuffle Tutorial with about 50-60 different moves often done by the originators of those moves.

here, very soon
