Hi welcome to the boards Drev.
Oh you'll have some fun with shuffling, you can actually incorporate native american and goth industrial into shuffling. I was part of a campaign to teach goths to shuffle in 1992 at Earwigs After Dark - a cult goth club. They loved it...eventually, and came up with some great 'banshee' for girls and 'lurch' for guys moves, it was like a zombie fest Laughing

Verry nice i can't wait to get the hang of it. and the over seas cloathing designs are idea sparking. With them Phatz pants i could put together some sick Cyber goth outfits.

Definitely, there's a lot of room for some new phats designs. Check out some of the oldskool shuffle goths in this vid, all the clothing in the first bit are made by the wearer - usually with a bit of help from design friends or friends into fashion.

The event is the annual goth charity ball, this 1995 years theme was called the Carnival Of Lost Souls, it sold out 8 months in advance 600 tickets at $65 each at the time.

There was a whole crossover thing happening in the oldskool between industrial, goth and cyberpunk. Some fantastic styles emerged, very tech and primal at the same time.

awesome not to mutch danceing in that vid but lota cool cloths. here in Co we have a bi anual fetish ball wich from the looks of it is veary simmular its and a blast to go to.

here in the states you dont tend to see the styles crossover to mutch. you tend to get the elite wich rule over their style. the elitest, egos to big for their talent. or the guys just trying to fit in some where. so a mixing of creeds dosnt realy happen.
wich leads me to over seas exploration.

yeh we had the same problem with rave promoters from the UK trying to do events in Melbourne, they just couldn't figure out how come everything crossed over. They were used to just techno or just hardstyle or drum + bass, let alone things from way out of the genre, confused the hell out of them.

Basically we just get bored easily in Melbourne and try different things all the time.

We've got over 200 languages spoken, english is the official one. So we're always getting cultures blurred at the edges. Most in Melbourne have mixed cultural backgrounds too, nobody really worries if you've got mixed blood nobody cares, it's not an issue.

So we tend to do the same with underground genre's as well, we just mix them how ever we like, which is pretty much the way Shuffling works.

That's not to say there's no arguments from purists Laughing

I should of mentioned, I haven't got much of the goth dancing online yet, just those teaser vids. There's quite a lot that will premier on the MSO dvd documentary GLOBAL SHUFFLE www.globalshuffle.com late 2009 then there'll be more on youtube.

For Phats, any cotton based material light weight denim etc. depends on how hot it is where you live. In the tropics they wear short phats a lot or light cotton. In Melbourne it's a mix for summer and winter phats. Generally something that breathes to allow the sweat to escape. Otherwise like with all synthetic material, it can get really sweaty.

Melbourne gets to 40c for a few days most el nino summers (2-3 summers out of 5), sometimes the nights don't get below 25c and can be like that for a week or two and everybody in town gets really cranky, so usually for all night parties something light is good. But then some summers when la nina hits like this year, it can be 10c with a top of 20c, so heavier works.

It doesn't get much below 5c even in winter in Melbourne, no snow or anything, but we grumble about it being cold when it hits 12c.

So the reflective material can add a lot of heat and weight to the phats, which can be okay in colder weather and a real pain in hot weather.

The reflective stuff is just everyday work wear safety jackets. They usually come in yellow, orange and white stripes, and are pretty cheap here $10 for a bright yellow reflective vest, which is stacks to cut up and sew onto phats. Like these in the pic below

In the oldskool we'd get this stuff from factory outlets who make industrial clothing, and get the seconds ( minor faults). Or a place in Melbourne that was called the Reverse Garbage Truck, that specialised in selling off cuts and scrap materials etc that would normally be thrown out.

But now you can get all sorts of colors, green, red, pink etc.

Some are really heavy duty tough thick fabric with glossy coating on them, like fire fighters would use, others are really light weight and the material is dyed in that reflective color.

So probably sus out whats around town in hardware stores etc, they're the usual place to stock reflective work wear.

All I can say at this time is ...I'm already onto it and talking with some promoters about getting a regular national shuffle event happening Wink

We're currently sussing out venues and sites etc and sorting through all the council permits and stuff.

We want it sooner rather than later of course Laughing
