Great video its pretty awesome, but i want to help you =)

Whenever you do your spins it looks a little weird example at 11:59-12:03
You keep your arms kinda wierd to your chest or holding your other arm then land wierd. Tip: When you Spin Spread both your arms straight out like your flying to keep balance and youll land the end good =P You can do One arm or Two.

The reason why i do the spins is to exaggerate the speed or force your
aplying to your body.

Other than that your great!! good job konsept you've come a long way.

Rocky is one of my shuffle idols.. He shuffled in HSA and learned there.
Rocky was known as the "Spin Master" In HSA
You'll see one of the spins im talking about starts at 3:18
You can do a little straighter if you want. He was being silly =P

The spins you show aren't spins, they are 'whirls' done like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers when you whirl around. Whirls are fine too, but they're not spins.

In a spin you stay on the same spot with the same foot, no moving anywhere.

You actually DO bring your arms to your chest, because that helps you spins faster.

Spreading your arms is wrong for a spin, it slows you down and doesn't help your spin balance, because you are trying to correcting bad foot positions from the shoulder instead of the ankle.

Balance starts from the foot and works it's way up to the shoulders.

THIS IS HOW YOU TRAIN FOR A SPIN: Stand on one foot for 5 minutes then the other foot for 5 minutes. Do this every day for 6 weeks.

Let your leg muscles keep you balanced, try not to hold or touch anything. When you can stand on one leg without strain or difficulty, can reach out without falling over. can twist hop and shuffle on your one foot without falling over, THEN your muscles will be strong enough for you to Balance, and a spin will be a piece of cake.

The tutorial above shows you how to break an ankle, his spins are confused and dangerous as he can't decide whether to spin on his heel or toe. Use your toe you have far more balance control, but you will first need to build up your muscles to do it. It's just lazy to spin on your heel because you haven't practiced.

To practice toe balance, stand with your feet together and lift your whole body slowly off the floor with just your toes/ball of your foot, holding you in place. Then slowly lower yourself down again, do this every day for as long as you can to build your leg muscles, so you can balance on your toes without thinking about it.

Even spend half an hour a day walking around the house on your toes/ball or your foot, both feet, up and down steps, everywhere. FEEL your calf and thigh leg muscles strengthen as they lift your whole body off the floor and cushion it as it comes downs, and keep doing it. Be aware of how your body moves.

Then when you come to a spin all you will be thinking about is the spin not the balance, your balance should already be strong.

Yeah they look simple enough, wait until you start doing multiple spins, you need to find a spot or sight point. Something that is fixed so that each time you do a revolution your eyes focus on that point for the few milli seconds you can. Usually in live performance the spot is in the audience area, or for camera, focus on the camera if at eye level.

This helps overide the inner ear mechanism which tells your brain you're falling over and the whole world has gone nuts. It's a normal physical response and helps us walk upright, so we don't stop the response, we manage the response feeding the brain something that is stationary while we spin to stop or at least reduce, the dizzy feeling.

It takes months to years to get it, but before that you need balance.

Your arms can act as the regulator of the spin, you can use them to slow you down in time with the music so you stop right on cue. Pulling them in can help you accelerate your spin, it looks really effective. You can hold your hands to your chest and move your elbows in and out as you spin to give a thrust element your spin. Like when you are on a swing as a kid and you lean forward into the swing to give more inertia.

Some people just can't spin, it's mainly because of the balance issues and is mainly a genetic thing. You might get away with one slow rotation, but beyond that, your inner ear just tells you NO. hehe. I know it sounds ridiculous you have to trick your body.

i love tricking my body. its fun i is pyro in a good way so me use to tricking body. i just need to work on keeping my head up when i spin and having hands on chest.

Yeah it's a centre of gravity and air resistance thing too. A big baggy hoodie has lots of drag in the aero dynamics area, so it will slow down your spin like a parachute.

Thank you all for the helpful feedack, especially Garry, i will and and have been practicing them and making them my number 1 priority in try to work on. and i usually spin on the ball of my foot(under my big toe). and i do usually have trouble gaining momentum.
and thanx infinity for that spins/slides tutorial, i think it'll help me A LOT!
